Bow vs Plectrum is a duo of Filip Novosel (tambura) and Tihomir Hojsak (double bass), with an idea of combining two string instrument with different traditions of playing. Double bass, played with bow, and Croatian traditional instrument, tambura, played with nonconventional rectangle shaped pick or plectrum make a unique and organic blend which translates in a fresh and yet not heard combination on a music scene.
The music that this duo creates combines variety of styles, but have made its foundations on ethno music of Balkans and Pannonia region and contemporary jazz. Original compositions of both Hojsak and Novosel are filled with folk motifs, groovy odd meters characteristic for their ethnic background, contemporary jazz harmony and virtuoso improvisations, showing the full glow and potential of their instruments.
